  • 0.5 cup strong espresso coffee cold
  • 3 tablespoon honey or your favorite sweetener
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 16 unit ladyfinger biscuits preferably whole grain
  • 2 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder for dusting
  • 1 tablespoon dark chocolate shavings optional, for garnish

Method

  1. Brew espresso coffee and let it cool completely. Set aside.

  3. Quickly dip the ladyfinger biscuits into the cooled espresso one by one, making sure not to soak them too much.

  5. Spread half of the cheese and yogurt cream over the ladyfingers, smoothing with a spatula.
  6. Add another layer of dipped ladyfingers on top of the cream.
  7. Spread the remaining cream over the second layer, smoothing it evenly.

Notes

Tiramisu is one of the world’s most beloved desserts, celebrated for its creamy texture and delicate coffee flavor. This lighter version keeps the iconic layers but is perfect for those seeking a healthier treat—ideal for dinner parties, family gatherings, or just a cozy moment at home.

Practical Tips and Ingredient Swaps

  • Don’t oversoak the ladyfingers! A quick dip in espresso is enough—this prevents your tiramisu from getting soggy and keeps the layers distinct.
  • If you can’t find whole grain ladyfingers, try using regular ones or even slices of light sponge cake for a creative twist.
  • Ricotta too grainy? Simply process it in a food processor until smooth—this ensures a velvety cream layer.
  • Replace honey with your favorite non-caloric sweetener for an even lighter dessert.

Technique and Texture Tips

For a beautifully layered appearance, use a clear glass dish. Take your time smoothing each layer for a professional look. Dust cocoa powder right before serving to keep it bold and fresh.
If you want more richness, fold in 2 tablespoons of light cream cheese to the ricotta mixture without overpowering the fresh taste.

Serving Suggestions & Variations

  • Serve with a side of fresh berries, like raspberries or sliced strawberries, to add color and a fruity touch.
  • For an adult twist, add a splash of coffee liqueur or Marsala wine to the espresso before dipping the ladyfingers.
  • Want individual servings? Layer the tiramisu in small glasses or jars—perfect for parties or picnics.
Feel free to experiment and make this classic dessert your own. Remember, the magic of tiramisu is in its layers—both in flavor and in the joy it brings to those who share it!
